technology and education reform

The evolution of the computer and the ensuing explosion of immediate and widespread access to information has enabled, (and sometimes forced) a paradigm shift in our approach to education. Today's learners are faced with very different needs than those of the past. Problem solving, information literacy, and other high level thinking skills are necessary for all learners in the 21st century.

Unfortunately, in many cases (some estimate as much as 95% of the time) technology in schools in under-utilized.  In many schools, the computer is still used as a game or a reward rather than the intellectual tool that it is intended to be.

Whether you are just beginning to formulate your personal vision of technology use in the classroom or you are a veteran believer in its necessary and expeditious use, I'm glad you're here. This site offers a wide array of resources for teachers (and others) interested in practical solutions for implementing engaging, technology rich learning environments.
